Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 6, 2026.
Personal information enters this store at 4 places: the checkout form, the account page, the message page and the chat bubble. It leaves for 6 companies, each with 1 job. This page follows it from the first field to the last company and names what is kept, for how long, and how to get it back or erased. It covers komartt.com and the emails that komartt.com sends, and nothing else.
At the checkout form
The form asks for what a parcel and a receipt need, and 2 lines you can skip.
- Required: name, street address, email address, card.
- Optional: a company line, and a phone number, which goes on the shipping label for the carrier.
- A card number is typed into a field that Stripe draws and Stripe reads. Our side receives a yes or a no, the brand of the card and its final 4 digits, never the number.
- An account is optional. Opening one adds a password, stored as a hash, and a birthday field that can stay empty, which exists to send the birthday code and for no other reason.
- On the message page: your name, your email, the message. In a review: the rating, the words, the name you sign, up to 5 photos.
- The chat bubble adds whatever is typed into it. Ask it for a person and it asks for a name and an email, which arrive at the office.
That is the whole intake. What comes in that way is used to charge the card, pack and deliver the order, work out the sales tax, send the emails about the order, answer your messages, and keep the records the tax rules call for. The same facts are matched up again when a return comes back, a refund is asked for, or a bank dispute lands.
In the server log and in your browser
A visit leaves 3 traces without a form being touched. None carries a name or an email address.
- IP address, browser name, device type and the pages requested go into the web server's log, as on every site. The host rotates that log, and we keep no copy.
- A small page counter pings our own server, a few seconds apart, with the page address, its title, the page before it and a random session id. Nobody outside the store receives it.
- The cart, and the short list of items you looked at, sit in the browser's local storage on your device. Neither reaches the server until an order is placed.
Reports arrive from outside as well. 3 kinds. Stripe says whether a payment cleared. The carriers send the scans. The China partner sends the day a parcel left. No company sends us a profile of you, and none is asked to.
Cookies
Few, and no banner, because nothing here is set for an advertiser or for an analytics company. 4 kinds. Each has a job you could point to.
- 1 cookie holds an account sign-in, for the account holder alone.
- 1 cookie is written by the consent module, which runs with its banner switched off. Its content is a default: necessary on, analytics off, marketing off. No choice of yours is in it.
- 1 cookie, named sf_src, appears only when the visit started from a campaign link. It holds the code, the referring page and the first page opened, for 30 days, and tells us which link an order began from. It stays with us.
- Stripe sets its own fraud-screening cookies at checkout, governed by Stripe's privacy policy.
No advertising pixel is installed. No analytics company is given a script to run. The browser's Global Privacy Control signal is not read today, since no sale and no share exist for it to stop; the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information says what changes before any advertising script could load.
In the inbox
4 emails ride along with every order: the confirmation; a note while the partner packs; the dispatch, with its tracking number; the refund notice, where 1 applies. 3 more follow a delivery without any box ticked: a first-order thank-you, a review request on day 3 after delivery, and a related-items note on day 7. Each of the 7 ends with an unsubscribe link.
Marketing email has its own switch, off until you flip it, at the checkout box about news and offers or in the account. With the switch on, the inbox can receive:
- A welcome email carrying WELCOME5, worth 5% off 1 order.
- A birthday email carrying BIRTHDAY10, worth 10% off 1 order, only where a birthday was given.
- A nudge about a cart or an item left open, a note after a 2nd or a 3rd order, a note 1 year after the first one, a note after a long stretch without a visit, and an announcement when a new item reaches the shelves.
Both codes work in the code box at the cart. Stopping the emails takes 1 click on any unsubscribe link, which works at once, or 1 change of the switch in the account, or an email to support, which is done within 10 business days. Text messages are never sent. The phone number is never dialed for marketing.
On the way to 6 other companies
Personal information is passed along for 1 purpose per company, to companies that do work we cannot do from the office. Not 1 of them pays for it, and none may keep it for a purpose of its own.
- Stripe, for the payment and the fraud screening of it, under Stripe's privacy policy.
- The partner in China that packs the order, for 3 label facts: name, street address, item list. That is the 1 transfer that leaves the United States, and it carries nothing beyond those 3 things.
- The international carrier, and then USPS, for the address and phone number the label shows.
- The store software host, which keeps the records and mails our emails, holding the data for us and using none of it.
- The AI company running the chat bubble, which reads the typed text.
A judge or a public authority can be a further recipient, where a legal order compels it, with that order kept on file. Nothing is sold. Nothing is handed to a data broker or to an advertising network. A buyer of the whole business would inherit the order records under this same page, and you would hear about it by email first.
Your rights
Wherever you live, 5 requests are open to you, by email or on the message page. No fee. Each gets a first reply within 1 business day and an answer within 45 days.
- A copy of what we hold about you.
- A correction of what is wrong.
- Deletion of everything the tax rules let go of. Order records are kept 7 years for tax, then erased; everything else goes on request.
- The same copy in a spreadsheet file you can carry elsewhere.
- An end to marketing email, which the unsubscribe link does faster.
What is kept, and for how long, in plain figures: order records, 7 years. A support thread, 24 months after the last message in it. An account, until the holder closes it or asks the office to. Logs, rotated by the host, with no copy on our side. The lock in the address bar is on for every page. The card number never touches our systems. Order records are opened by the few people who pack, ship and answer, every 1 of them under a separate login. A promise that no system can be broken does not appear here, because nobody can keep that promise.
California residents
The California Consumer Privacy Act stacks 3 rights on top of the 5 above: an opt-out from any sale or share of personal information, a limit on the use of sensitive personal information, and equal treatment whichever of them you use. The Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page takes those requests, explains why the opt-out changes nothing in practice, and carries the 15 business day and 45 day clocks. An agent you have authorized in writing can send the request in your place.
Children
The store is for adults. It sells chargers, blades and lamps. No account is opened for anyone under 13, and no personal information is knowingly collected from a child that age. A parent who finds a child's information here writes to support, and it is erased within 2 business days, which is the only clock on this page shorter than the rest.
Links to the carriers' tracking sites, to Stripe and to PayPal lead to pages those companies run under their own policies. This page changes only with a new date at the top, and a change that narrows a right is emailed to account holders before it takes effect. A question about a line above goes to the support email or the message page; the block that follows names the company, the EIN and the office address.
